XROS 5 vs XROS 4 Nano: Should You Actually Upgrade?

My XROS 4 Nano died on me in Karachi traffic last Tuesday.

Bad timing. I was stuck near Shahrah-e-Faisal for 47 minutes and the battery just gave up around the 3pm mark. That's when I finally opened the XROS 5 sitting in my drawer and gave it a proper run. Been using it side-by-side with my old Nano ever since.

So here's the actual comparison — from someone who paid for both, not someone reading a spec sheet.

What Vaporesso Actually Changed

The XROS 4 Nano is small. Really small. 1000mAh battery, 2ml pod, and it fits in the coin pocket of your jeans (I've tested this on three different pairs). It runs the same COREX heating tech as the bigger XROS 4 but shrunk down for people who don't want a brick in their pocket.

The XROS 5 is the full-size flagship. 1000mAh battery too — same on paper — but a bigger 2ml pod with a redesigned airflow ring on the pod itself. Not the device. That's the important bit. On the Nano, airflow adjustment is on the device body. On the XROS 5, they moved it to the pod. Sounds boring. It's not.

Why? Because now you can pull a fresh pod, dial airflow independently, and the tension on that ring is way tighter. My Nano's airflow slider drifted every time it slid out of my pocket. The XROS 5? Hasn't moved once in three weeks of daily carry.

The other thing nobody talks about — the XROS 5 charges at 2A now. USB-C fast charge. The Nano charges slower. If you're the type who forgets to charge overnight and needs 15 minutes before Fajr or before heading to work, this matters more than you'd think.

Flavour delivery is where I got surprised. I honestly expected them to taste identical because the coil tech is the same generation. They don't. The XROS 5 hits a bit warmer, slightly more open on the draw even at the tightest setting. The Nano stays cooler and tighter — closer to a proper MTL cigarette pull. If you're a fresh ex-smoker, the Nano might actually suit you better. If you've been vaping a while and want something with more air, the 5 wins.

Real World Stuff — Battery, Pods, Daily Carry

Look, the spec sheet says both have 1000mAh. But real-world battery? The XROS 5 lasts me from 8am to about 9pm on 35mg salts. The Nano taps out around 6pm on the same juice. I think it's because the 5 sips power more efficiently on the standard setting, and the Nano's smaller form factor means the battery works harder at the same output.

Pod life is basically identical. Both use the XROS series pods (0.6ohm and 0.8ohm mesh). I get roughly 4-5 tank refills before flavour drops off. Same pods fit both devices, which is actually great — if you already have a Nano and buy the 5, your existing pod stash carries over. That's a Rs. 800-1000 saving right there.

Size-wise, the Nano is genuinely pocketable. Like, forget-it's-there pocketable. The XROS 5 isn't huge but it's noticeably chunkier. My cousin in Lahore borrowed the 5 for a weekend and gave it back saying it felt too big — he's got small hands and prefers the Nano. Personal preference thing.

Build quality — both feel premium. Aluminium body, no creaks, no rattles. The XROS 5 has a small screen showing battery percentage and puff count. The Nano has a simple LED indicator. I used to think screens on pods were gimmicky. Changed my mind after three weeks — knowing exact battery percentage before leaving the house is actually useful. Especially when you're heading out and the nearest vape shop is 20 minutes away.

One thing I'll say about the Nano though — it's more forgiving if you drop it. Dropped mine off a rickshaw seat in Rawalpindi last month onto concrete. Not a scratch. The XROS 5 I've been babying because it feels slightly more premium and I don't want to test it.

Price and Value in Pakistan

This is where things get interesting. The XROS 5 lands at a higher price point in Pakistan than the XROS 4 Nano — expected. But the gap isn't huge. If you're buying your first pod system, I'd probably steer you toward the 5 straight away because you're getting the newer airflow design, faster charging, and the screen for not much more.

If you already own the Nano and it's working fine? Honestly, don't bother upgrading unless the airflow drift on the device body is driving you mad. That's the main real-world improvement. Everything else is incremental.

You can browse both in our pod systems collection alongside the OXVA Xlim Pro and Argus G3 Mini if you want to compare across brands. We ship COD nationwide — Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, even small towns in interior Sindh. 4-day delivery usually.

Who Should Buy Which One

Buy the XROS 4 Nano if you want the smallest possible pod that still delivers proper flavour, you're new to vaping and want a tight MTL draw, or you carry your vape in tight jeans and hate anything bulky. It's still an excellent device. Just older.

Buy the XROS 5 if you want the newer pod-based airflow (trust me, this alone is worth it), you charge on the go and need fast USB-C, or you like knowing your exact battery percentage. Also if this is your first proper pod and you're not sure — get the 5. It's more forgiving as you figure out your preferences.

Skip both if you want massive puff counts and don't want to refill pods. In that case look at the IVG 8K at Rs. 3,999 or the IVG Regal 6000 at Rs. 3,499. Different category entirely — disposable-style with 8000 or 6000 puffs baked in. No refilling.

I used to recommend the Nano to everyone because it was small and cute. Not anymore. What I've found after selling both for months — the XROS 5 gets fewer complaints, fewer returns, and people stick with it longer. The Nano is still great but it's a specific pick for a specific person. The 5 works for more people.

Pair either with IVG Intense Salts (30ml, 35mg or 55mg, Rs. 2,999) and you're sorted for weeks. The 35mg suits the XROS 5 nicely. 55mg is a bit strong for it in my opinion — save that for tighter MTL devices.

FAQs

Can I use my XROS 4 Nano pods in the XROS 5?
Yep. Same pod family. Both use the XROS series pods with 0.6ohm and 0.8ohm mesh coils. If you're upgrading you don't need to buy new pods immediately — your existing stash works.

Is the battery really better on the XROS 5?
Same 1000mAh on paper but the 5 lasts noticeably longer in real use. Maybe 20-25% more time between charges from my experience. Plus it fast-charges at 2A over USB-C, so refilling the battery takes half the time.

Which one is better for someone quitting cigarettes?
Honestly? The Nano's tighter draw is closer to a cigarette pull, which some ex-smokers prefer. But the XROS 5 with the airflow closed almost all the way gets pretty close too. If you're brand new to vaping and want the most cigarette-like feel, lean Nano. If you want room to grow, get the 5.

Do you ship these on COD?
Yeah, cash on delivery across Pakistan. 4-day shipping typically. Free returns if something's wrong when it arrives. Just order from the site and pay the courier when it shows up.

So — worth the upgrade if you're already on the Nano? For most people, no. For airflow perfectionists and fast-charge addicts, yes. What kind of vaper are you?
